“A value is a way of being or believing that we hold most important.”

- Brene Brown, Dare To Lead

Know your Values

We experience internal tension when we have not done the work of naming our values. We all hold values whether we are aware of it or not, the challenge is naming them. What does this look like when we are living in tension because of unnamed values?

  • It looks like being approached to help with a big initiative and immediately wanting to say no, but not feeling sure about why beyond our initial instinct.

  • It feels like uncontrollable rage bubbling up out of us after witnessing what most would describe as a small incident.

  • It can explain why that one behavior of your significant other is enough to make you consider ending it.

  • It manifests as burnout caused by a source we can’t quite pinpoint.

Let’s work together to gain greater clarity and understanding of your personal values. I’m here to be your safe, judgment-free space as you process your personal values.

Naming your values builds compassionate confidence

Values are not universal. They are not always cultural. They aren’t fully tied to your enneagram type. They aren’t always yet realized in your own life - have you heard of aspirational values? And you can’t impose your own values onto others without their consent.

Doing the work to notice and name your values can help you to see both yourself and your environment with clearer eyes. It can help you make more confident decisions and helps you to extend more compassion when you encounter a value difference with others.
